Photo Safari Lesson Plan

Photo Safari Lesson Plan

Introduction

A photo safari is a great way to engage students in the discovery process to gather source materials. In this project students will be asked to take digital images to document stories of the people (or places, or things) that impact their lives.

Prerequisite Experience

It is helpful if students are familiar with digital photography and digital image editing. Students should also have a mechanism (folder on server; USB storage device or web site for) to submit or PUBLISH their finished safari presentations.

Teacher Prep Time

If you have not worked with a digital camera or photo editing software before you may want to practice. Review the Imaging training videos from Nortel LearniT.

Project

Students will publish and present their photo story resulting from their safari.

Assessment/Grading

A rubric will be used to evaluate final projects.

Time Management Tips

Have students work in pairs. Let students research various well know photographers on the Internet. Use a bulletin board to display student photo stories to share with the school.
