  • As the school year nears the half-way point, Nortel LearniT continues to showcase best practices and is expanding its resources for you to use in your classroom. Leverage your students' interest in the historic election, the weather, and the world around us by having them  demonstrate their abilities to analyze, synthesize and create their own 21st century learning projects to communicate their knowledge, skills and abilities.

     Digital Citizenship

    Exchange

Recent elections have generated a tremendous amount of interest in both the political process and the role of 21st century learners in a democracy. Now that the elections are over and the votes have been counted, it's time to help  your students understand the role of the 21st century citizen and how they can use their unique skills to improve our society. Nortel LearniT can help you teach them about digital citizenship by tapping into their interests, enthusiasm and energy.

    Digital Scavenger Hunts

Are you looking for a fun, yet simple way to use that new digital camera in your classroom? There is no easier way than having your students conduct a digital scavenger hunt. Check out our Nortel LearniT Interns' short video on how you can get started with your own scavenger hunt. You can also get other great hands-on activity ideas in the 101 Ideas to Jump Start Your Digital Imaging Projects.

    Featured Lesson Plan

As Winter rapidly approaches, it's a great time to have your students consider creating their own weather journal.  This 1st/2nd grade lesson plan is both fun and scientific and helps students build their digital imaging skills. A special thanks to Creekside Elementary School's Amanda Dennison in Durham, NC for her creativity in sharing this 6ES lesson plan.

21st century learning includes having students use their skills and knowledge to approach and solve real-world challenges. See how students in a summer internship with Nortel LearniT used computer programming talents to build a tool that has an important role in the research and study of bees and their hives.
